appy Friday everyone! I hope you have a lovely weekend planned. Tomorrow is the infamous Gasparilla parade in Tampa Bay. If you're from the bay area, I need not tell you what a crazy day it will be. It's even crazier when you live right by the parade like we do. So, I usually camp out at home and hide from the world. It was fun when I was 22. At 30 something with an infant... um... not so much. Mommyhood Thursday - 01.26.2012 - Most Useful Items

kay... so as a new mommy I had a really difficult time putting together a registry when I was pregnant. How the heck did I know what I would need? I didn't have a clue! Bottle warmer? Um... sure... A swaddling blanket? Receiving blanket? Isn't a blanket a blanket? I was at a loss. So, I just went on Amazon, read the feedbacks and chose my items. Now that I've been at this for a mere 7 weeks (tomorrow!), I can share with you some of the items I've used the most! I'm sure I'm forgetting some stuff... but I will certainly share more things with you as time goes on. Here it goes!

eriously... how cuuuuuute are these boho style dresses for lil' gals?!? With as much cute stuff as there is out there for baby girlies, it's no wonder I screamed joyfully at the doctor's office when the sonogram specialist announced we'd be having a girl! I thought... "Yay! My boo is healthy! Yay! It's a girl! Yay! Shopping!" Savannah is too teeny tiny still to really show off her threads, but as soon as she can... I will certainly be clothing her up in some super duper cute dresses! Can't wait!!

Mid-Century Monday - 01.23.2012 - Unconventional (Myrica Bervqvist)

id-Century decor need not be strictly "mid-century." Unless you're a purist and that's your thing. I tend to be the type that loves to mix genres. I do that with my clothes, my music and my decor. It keeps things interesting, unconventional and unpredictable for me. I love it. : ) So, when I came upon Myrica Bergqvist's website and her work, I was smitten. She does a terrific job of making Mid-Century design look fresh, modern and not time-warpy... is that a word?? Well, I'm sure you know exactly what I mean! Check out her website here.

I hope everyone had a terrific Monday! I know this post is a day late. My apologies!! My best friend and godson are in town from St. Louis and we were hanging out and catching up. It was the most amazing thing to get in the car with her with both our kids in their car seats in the back. A dream come true... our kids... together. Us... bff's out at the park with our children! Awesome. I mean... when we met, we were two 20 somethings who had given up on ever finding the right guy and had deemed ourselves doomed to live alone and barren for life! So, when we get together now we can't help but laugh at how negative and lame we once were! Ha! But, you know what?? We've stuck together through the good, the bad and the ugly (that includes attitudes, hairdos, outfits and boyfriends!). : ) I was the one taking the pics yesterday, so no picture of me. But here is my bff Mel and my godson (her son) Evan seeing Savannah for the first time... love! : )

I will attempt Etsy Tuesday later on. No promises!! Bff and godson time again today!! Yippeeee!!

Mommyhood Thursday - 01.19.2012 - Our Birth Story

To kick off the Mommyhood Thursday column, I figured I would start from the very beginning... our birth story. Birth stories are each so unique. Thus, I thought I would share it with you. Here it goes:

On November 11th I went in to the Ob/Gyn for my regular weekly appointment. All week I'd had incredible pain and discomfort, but I just attributed it to Braxton Hicks and continued going to work every day. I told my students I wasn't feeling so good and would have to sit down more than usual. But, I went on with my week. When I saw the doctor I told him about the pain I'd been experiencing. He wrote me off pretty quickly by saying " oh that's pretty normal at the stage you're in" (I was 31 weeks). He said... "Those are called Braxton Hicks and they're false or practice contractions." I responded by telling him that the menstrual like pain was pretty severe and I was a tad worried. At that point he decided to check my cervix. To his (and my) surprise, I was 2 cm dilated! He immediately sent me to the Labor & Delivery triage at the hospital to have further tests done. All the tests came back positive for high risk premature labor. Treatment? Mandatory bed rest. Ugh. Bed rest?? How was I supposed to pull that off? I had to work! No ifs, ands, or buts about it! Well... we had to make it work. It was for our child's health and safety, after all. The beginning of parenting was here.

After 4 (what seemed to be painfully boring) weeks at home the time had come. On the night of December 8th, I suddenly had pretty bad stomach pains. I had to use the restroom pretty frequently (you take a guess what for!), which I'd read could be the onset of labor. I was worried because at this point I was only 35 weeks along. I wanted to keep her in the womb as long as possible... at least to 37 weeks, when she would be considered full term. I told the hubs that my stomach was hurting and I expressed my concerns to him. He wrote it off saying that it was probably the chicken wings I'd had for lunch. Well... I decided to just believe him and not worry too much. At around 11 pm, I went to bed. If you've been pregnant before, I don't need to tell you about the number of times you have to get up in the middle of the night to pee, do I? Well, that's exactly what was happening. I was wide awake by 2am. I just couldn't sleep! I had to pee every 45 minutes, my belly was HUGE and I could not get comfortable to save my life. So, I took out the iPad and was reading an article while sitting up in bed. Around 2:45 am, I suddenly feel myself peeing... or so I thought! I looked down to see water trickling out of my pajama pants without any effort from me! I thought... "oh no! She must be sitting on my bladder!" I ran to the restroom immediately. When I went to wipe... blood. Oh. my. goodness.

I ran down the hallway screaming at my husband "Honey!! Blood! There's blood! Ah! That's not supposed to happen! Oh my! Oh no! Oh no! Oh nooooo!" As he repeatedly told me to calm down, I could feel my nerves getting worse and worse. I didn't want to call my doctor because it was 3 am! I didn't want to "be rude." Ha! Rude? Seriously... what was I thinking? After about 5 minutes of debating whether I should call or not, I decided I'd better be safe than sorry. I called.

After explaining all of the above to the doctor, I said "Oh... and I'm having menstrual cramps. Is that normal?" Her response? "Yes. Those would be contractions. You're probably in labor. See you at the hospital." She said it so calmly and matter of fact too! I was like " Seriously???? What???? Ahhhhh!!!!!!!" PANIC!!! Suddenly I became a complete mad woman. Screaming at my husband... "Oh my God! This is it! We have to go! Oh my God. Oh my God!! I can't believe this is happening! I'm scared! I'm terrified! Oh my God! I'm scared!!!!" I said all that over and over again as I cried my eyes out and fumbled to get my things together. My husband's response " Relax. Stop stressing out. Women do this every day. You'll be fine." Ha! Easy for you to say!!! He wasn't the one about to push out a watermelon!

Fast forward to 4:06 am... checking into triage at the hospital. By 4:15 am, the nurse was hooking me up to the monitor. My contractions were now 5 minutes apart. I was 5 cm dilated. Holy crap. Halfway there! I laid in the hospital bed nervously calling my mother, to which there was no answer. No answer! My mom! I called my sister... no answer. My best friend... no answer. My brother... no answer! Guess that's what happens when the rest of the world is sleeping and you're in labor! Thankfully, I called my sister in law (my bro's wife) and bam! She answered!! Hallelujah! She put my brother on the phone and I told him he needed to get a hold of mom... somehow, some way! He called her... again and again and again... no answer. Goodness! So, my poor brother drove 45 minutes to her house and barged into her bedroom at 6am : "Mom!!! Mina's in the hospital! Baby's coming!!" My mother said she was so disoriented and couldn't figure out what the heck my brother was doing in her bedroom in the "middle of the night." She put on the first thing she could find and off they went!

By 6:30... hubby, mom and bro were all present. My contractions? 3 minutes apart. At this point... 6 cm dilated. They asked... epidural? My response? "YES PLEASE! THANKS." Their response? "Smart girl!" By 7 am, I was 8 cm dilated and my contractions were 1 minute apart. Epidural still not on board because my blood pressure was too high! Well, of course it was! I was in labor! Get me that EPI stat!!!!! My last contraction was so painful that I just remember crying like a baby and screaming "Someone do something! Help me! Please!!!!" All I heard was the nurse " She's in pain. We need that epidural now!" About 5 minutes later the doctor was in and the epidural was being put in. 8am? 10 cm dilated! Time to push!!! Push! Push! Push! 8:21 am? Baby girl was out!

I was so worried because she was a preemie. But, miraculously... she was 6 lbs, 5 oz. The NICU was there as a precaution. I was sure they would take her in. The doctor brought her over to my arms and said "She's doing great! No need for the NICU. She'll be taken to the nursery for about an hour and then into your room." Thank God. Thank God. My baby girl was born healthy. 5 weeks early, but healthy. Thank God.

She's really such a sweet baby. She sleeps a lot... except it's not in huge increments. About 2-3 hours at a time. She hasn't "slept through the night" yet. Whatever that means. Sometimes she sleeps 3-4 hours through the night... sometimes she's up 3-4 hours through the night. So... it's kind of a toss up as each night approaches.

The hubs and I are attempting a routine at night to get her used to knowing when night time has approached. It consists of a bath at 8pm, followed by brushing her hair, dimming the lights and beginning to whisper. We then give her a nice, warm bottle and rock her until she's drowsy. At that point I put her in her crib to allow her to fall asleep on her own. She always does, which is wonderful! I think by this week I will start reading her a little book at night too.

Were the first 2-3 weeks easy? Absolutely not! I definitely had the post-partum baby blues. Eeeek! I cried at the drop of a hat! And I felt like a failure every second of the day! But, at around 10 days post-partum my hormones seemed to level off, as did my mood swings. At around 3 weeks I started to gain a little bit of confidence in my parenting skills. At 4 weeks I felt like I really knew her quirks more than anyone else. Now... at 5 1/2 weeks I feel a gazillion times better than I did week 1! Worlds apart! Am I still sleep deprived? Of course! Tired? No doubt. But happy? You betcha! More confident? Surely. A functioning zombie? Absolutely! In fact, it's 10 am and I've been wide awake since 2:30! Am I about to crash? Certainly.

implicity is a concept I've always been attracted to. I try to live a simple life and I absolutely love it! So, I fell in love with these Etsy picks for that very reason. All these rings are beautiful and simple. Who says you can't wear a "wedding" band on your other hand as an accessory? I chose them in gold because I think yellow gold is making a comeback? What do you think? Agree? Disagree? I personally love them! They say "very classy" to me.

I'm going to spend the rest of the day browsing the net for some peasant tops and dresses. I need an "in-between" wardrobe while I lose the baby weight. I have 20 pounds to lose. Bummer. On the bright side? I've already lost 20 since I gave birth 5 weeks ago! So... I'm halfway there!! Yippee! Of course... the last 10-15 are the hardest. But, I can do it! I've set a goal of August for myself. So, we'll see how that goes. I figured it took 9 months to put it on, so I'll give myself 9 months to get it off. Mid-Century Monday - 01.16.2012

ur house remodel has finally begun! Thank goodness! It's been years in the making... so when my husband told me he drove past there and saw a ton of dust from work being done I could not be happier!! I don't think I've ever been happy about dust. But... I sure am now!! Here's our rough gem:

We expect to be moving in by summer. It was supposed to be this month, but the city made sure they delayed our permits... of course. There's nothing like government work, right? Anywho... I've been thinking about the interior. The space we have for our dining table is teeny tiny. So, we're left with a nook. A tiny nook. I'd really like to keep the colors bright and airy to make it appear larger than it is. Plus, I'd love to have a tulip table and some sleek seating to create the illusion of space. The pictures above are what I hope to re-create. Watcha think? Yay? Nay? Of course, budget is always an issue. I mean... a Saarinen tulip table can be a couple of thousand bucks. I'd have to find it used to get it under a $1,000. We'll see what happens.

ello all and happy Friday! Being home all week on maternity leave makes pretty much every day a Friday, since I seem to completely lose track of what day of the week it is. But, nevertheless, for the rest of the world out there... it's Friday. : ) It's also my birthday! So... it's a fun Friday! I'll be going to brunch with my beautiful sister in law in the morning and hanging with my hubs and baby girl the rest of the day. I will probably see my sweet mama as well. So, it will be a wonderful birthday weekend. Unfortunately, everyone is working today, so my actual birthday will be spent warming up formula, cleaning up drool and feeding the dogs and cat. Life of a stay at home mommy. Fun, fun, fun! : ) By the way... speaking of mommyhood, I've decided to switch the Mommy Monday to Thursdays instead. So, the goal is to have:

hen I think of the boho aesthetic for the home, I immediately think laid back, lots of color and lots of texture. I can't imagine a boho chic home without pillows. Lots and lots of pillows! Pillows are an awesome decor element because you can change them with the seasons or... with your moods! Whatever way you want it! Very "bohemian" indeed!

I hope everyone's Wednesday is going fab. : ) I'm hanging out with my baby boo and having a blast doing it! My body is getting used to the sleep deprivation... well... kinda. So, I'm doing much better now a days! Here are some recent pics... enjoy!

Mid-Century Monday - 01.09.2012

don't know if it's because I haven't had adequate sleep in over a month or because our house remodel started today and I'm dreaming about decorating... but I'm into beds lately. Honestly, I think it's the lack of sleep. I've always had the discussion with my hubby about how our bed should be. I've always been into high beds. I like to climb up and feel as far away from the floor as possible. Something about sleeping on the floor just doesn't jive well with me. So, being super close to the floor is pretty much the same idea in my mind. But, the hubs loves low, lowwwww beds. Something to do with his aching back. Or so he says. I think he just likes low beds and that's that! Being that I'm so sleep deprived now a days, I would honestly give in to ANY bed. Low, high, falling apart, cluttered, made, unmade, ugly bedding, cute bedding, teddy bears on the bedding... don't care. But, since this is, after all, a decor/lifestyle blog... what kind of blogger would I be if I didn't put a stylish bed for your viewing pleasure? So, I chose this Case Study bed sold at DWR. Go here to see it and, perhaps... buy it! : ) Lucky you! It's pricey, but niiiiice!

I hope all of you are having a terrific Monday! I'm exhausted, of course. But, feeling quite blessed. I've decided to add an additional column (to write when I can) called Mommyhood Mondays. On Mondays I will either do Mid-Century Monday or Mommyhood Mondays or both. Depending on how much time and energy I have. This journey I'm on is just too precious to not share it and document it with all of you. I will shoot for writing Mommyhood Monday later on today. Pictures to come!

Savannah's Completed Nursery - 01.02.2012

cannot believe 2012 is here. It's truly amazing how fast 2011 went. I have to admit... I was a tad sad to see it go. It was a very blessed year for me and my family. But, I believe that 2012 has a lot more blessings in store for us and that it will be that much better! I promised I would get back to blogging at the beginning of the year, so here I am! I hope all of you had a terrific holiday season. We had a terrific one filled with more exhaustion than I ever thought I could feel. I never felt this tired even when I worked full time and attended law school at night! Being a new mommy is definitely tiring and I have a whole new boatload of respect for moms out there! Especially those of you with 2 or more kids. God bless you! Really! Now... it's been exhausting, but... it's also been the most rewarding and amazing experience of my entire life. Watching our little Savannah grow on a day to day basis has been nothing short of amazing and awesome. I love my little pumpkin so much! She's just wonderful. : )

I had a lot of visitors in the past three weeks. One of them was my sister who visited from Chicago. She stayed with me all week and helped me complete the nursery (which I thought I had another month to finish!). Since Savannah came to us 5 weeks early... nothing was done. Just the basics (like the bassinet was ready and the car seat and stroller). I mean... we had diapers and wipes and such. But, that's about it! So, when my dear friend dropped off the crib and my sister brought me her handy personality and elbow grease... we got to work! I love how it turned out and I hope you do too! Enjoy the tour!

Diaper changing station. The table is a vintage table from The Red Herring Antiques in Tampa. It used to be our entrance table in our living room (for our keys and such), but it worked out great as a changing table! The canvas is from Anthropologie.

The flowers on the wall are from gift bags from the baby shower! The letters are from Target's dollar section.

I just got this picture frame as a gift from my mom, so I have yet to put a picture in it. I need to work on that!

The lamp is from our shop and the cork board was made using IKEA fabric and a board from Sunshine Thrift Store in Tampa.

This light green vintage dresser was found on the side of the road a couple of years ago. We didn't paint it or anything. It's super charming! : )

Our Jenny Lind crib and crib bedding was gifted by a dear friend of mine. I just love it! : )

This room is also our guest bedroom. Of course... it's mommy and baby room for now. : )

My Sweet Girl is Here! 12.15.2011

proud mama and papa. I wanted to share this with all of you lovely blog readers who've stuck with the blog and with reading my randomness for the past 4 years. Our sweet baby girl was born last week and we just could not be more thrilled or more in love. It's amazing that one can love another human being to the magnitude I've experienced in the past few days. Amazing, amazing love. I will try my very best to resume posting after Christmas break (probably at the beginning of the year). Until then my friends... have a Merry Christmas and a Joyous and blessed New Year.

ell, I thought I'd go ahead and do today's 10Corners about our own home...grudgingly. Especially, given that it's always a work in progress and well, um... you know how that is!! We allll know how that is! I always feel like that saying "cobbler's children have no shoes." Like I'm always writing about decor, but my house is an ever changing disaster zone! I'm always moving this and I'm always moving that. I'm guessing living with me must be no treat. But, that's okay! Keeps things fun! : ) That's the way I see it!! : ) So, here I just snapped some pictures of some corners of our home. As you can see from some of the pics, I snapped them during the holidays... so you may see a stocking here or there. I think there's a poinsettia in there somewhere too! Oops! I hope you enjoy them! I sure enjoy living here. It may not be a big ol' mansion, but we fill it with lots of love and laughter and those are the greatest decor tips you can apply to any home! : )

en are the hardest ones to shop for on my list every year. I can just never get it right! It's kinda frustrating. Especially since I am the worst at picking out simple things like ties! But, this year I went out on a limb and created this gift guide for you guys. I hope you like it and can derive some good ideas from it. irrors are such a wonderful decor element that can be added to any room for dramatic effect and impact. Especially when it's an ornate, over the top, large mirror. It not only provides drama, but it will also make a room seem larger. How grand! Mirrors like the ones above can be found at vintage boutiques and flea markets alike! The ones at the flea, however, you may have to paint, tweak and spruce up... but the end product will be worth it. Oh... so worth it. : )

It's Wednesday! You know what that means? We're a few days closer to the weekend! Yippee! All went well at the doc's office yesterday, thank goodness. My lil' girl is hanging in there. My weight on the other hand? Oui... not so great. It's definitely not hanging in there. Instead, it's running at high speeds farther and farther into the scale than I would like. But, it's all part of being preggers, I suppose. So, I'll just take it as part of this awesome experience and roll with it! Have a wonderful rest of your day. hristmas trees don't have to be green. They don't have to be this tall or that tall. Heck... they don't even need to be on the ground! With the creative minds we have out in the world, Christmas trees have a taken on a pretty cool twist! Etsy is filled with alternative trees for every taste and they all make quite the statement. Since I'm preggers and can barely move around, the hubs and I opted for an alternative tree this year from Ikea. I posted a picture of it on this blog post.

oms... complex creatures that they are, deserve only the very best. So, holiday shopping for them can be a tad stressful. Especially since they seem to already have everything. Don't they? Or is that just my mom? I always feel like... "Does she need one more serving platter? One more candle? One more picture frame!?!?" But, truth is... I have a sneaking suspicion that moms don't really care what they get from their children. To them, it's the thought that counts. I'm sure I could give my mom a letter telling her how much I love her and she would think it's the most beautiful gift in the world. (hmmnnn.... light bulb! Maybe I'll do that!). he hubs & I are currently in the process of remodeling our house and the restroom is in dire need of a facelift! Of course... knowing that we're in the midst of this (what seems to me a gigantic) project, I can't help but dream about how amazing it will all be in the end. : ) My hubby's job is all the dirty work... mine... is to dream about it. : ) I like that arrangement! So... I thought I'd help him out with some ideas (above). Watcha think? Our home is an Eichler wannabe, if you will. So, it lends itself to mid-century decor and style. He's currently working on the bathroom (hence the bathroom inspiration itch I've got going on!). He ruled out a couple of these and liked some others. I won't taint you with his opinion though! I'll let you decide for yourself! P.S. Secret: Shhhh.... But, I'm in love with the first picture above by manufacturer Walter Zanger. Don't tell!

I hope the week started off blissfully for all of you lovely readers. The hubs & I are currently getting ourselves ready for the arrival of baby. So, he put together the stroller and car seat last night. It makes everything seem that much more real! (like the giant belly I'm sporting didn't do that already, right??). cannot believe this week is nearly over. Awesome thing about being home? You tend to be in blissful ignorance about time. Worst thing about being home? You tend to be in blissful ignorance about time. I've completely lost track! The very fact that I've already been home from work for 3 weeks (3 weeks!!) baffles me! Where has the time gone? Geez! I'm actually 34 weeks today! Yippee! Which means... only 6 weeks to our little angel pie's due date!! Wow! I'm excited, anxious, scared, weirded out, tired, energetic and so much more! It's truly an awesome feeling. Anyone else out there pregnant with their first?? How are you feeling??

I hope your weekend is filled with lots of hot cocoa, toasty nights, white lights and all things holiday. : ) I will be home... of course! But, maybe watching some Christmas movies will make it all a little more Christmasy around here. Until Monday!

'm really starting to think that I was from Sweden or Norway or some Scandinavian country in a past life because I absolutely love that aesthetic! Especially during the holidays. The decor is so crisp and fresh. Makes me wish I was in some snow filled Norwegian country staring at my natural Christmas tree in my neutral colored and cushy home. Ah... dreams. Winter dreamin'. Of course... instead, I'm in 80 degree in November Florida weather. But, hey... that's okay! : ) That's what the Internet is for! Dreaming. : )

I hope everyone enjoyed their last November Tuesday. We woke up to weather in the 60s. So, I shouldn't complain. It's getting a tad cooler. Slowly, but surely. I had a doctor's appointment yesterday that went quite well! Thank goodness! Baby seems to be nice and put and here's to hoping we can make it another few weeks before she makes an appearance! I'm 33 1/2 weeks right now. So, she needs to stay in the oven a bit longer. Of course, when I think about it... her due date is only 6 1/2 weeks away!! That's nothing! It'll go by in the blink of an eye! So, I packed up my hospital overnight(s) bag yesterday... because you just can never be too prepared! I'm going to go do some more winter dreaming now on Pinterest. Have a lovely evening all...

I loved this particular tour because it had the minimalistic, mid-century aesthetic we love. But, it combined it with fun, vibrant colors as well (which I am a weakling for!). Weekend Recap - Turkey, Stuffing and Pie... oh My! 11.28.2011

Family always makes things better! Here are the parentals making fun of the fact that I had them in frozen smiling positions for over a minute as I figured out the camera. : )

My makeshift wine "bar." Notice... one bottle of wine. The hubs doesn't drink and I'm preggo. So, that left the parentals to the drinkin' part of the shindig...

Our place settings. Being that I'm on bed rest, I couldn't get out there to get thanksgiving day stuff... so I worked with what I had.

My favorite part of Thanksgiving? The day after... when I get to decorate for Christmas. But, here's the deal...

o can do this Christmas season. : ( Wish I could. Trust me. With 80 degree weather outside, the least I could have is a lit Christmas tree in my living room with decorations to make it feel even remotely like Christmas. But... I'm restricted in what I can do. So... our Christmas decor this year? This cute felt tree from IKEA. I actually got it for our baby girl's room for her first Christmas. But, I figured we'd use it this year. I literally put it together in 15 seconds and propped it on a side table. Our other Christmas decor? Door wreath. Done. So so sooooo sad. Oh well. I'll make up for it next year. I hope everyone's Thanksgiving was absolutely fabulous and I hope you are decorating for the holidays!

I'm on my way to the doc's office now. Wish me luck! I feel good, so that's a great sign that this baby is staying put! Perhaps even up to her due date!! (fingers crossed!!!). Stay tuned for Mid-Century Monday!

love a natural, simple look at a party dinner table. It's inviting and warm. In my Etsy choices for today, you'll notice there's a couple of place card options and then some ornaments that can be tied to the place card. That can be your party favor to your guests, which they can later take home and hang on their tree for the holidays. It's thoughtful and fun. Like I said, we're only having 2 people over and I can't get up to set up the table and make cute place cards... so this year it'll be a free for all! Sit wherever folks! But, I will certainly keep these ideas in mind for next year!

I sure hope everyone's Tuesday is going well. I've been taking it easy, of course! I don't mind though. Like I said, I'm starting to get used to this and taking a liking to it! Ha! But, let me not get too comfy. I'll be back to the work grind here in a few months. So, I've got to keep a sense of normalcy as much as I can and stop going to sleep at 1 in the morning!! iven that I'm bound to a bed for the next few weeks (at least til baby arrives), my hubby and I have decided to invite my folks over for Thanksgiving dinner. We usually make the trip to either their house or my in laws' house. But, obviously, this year presents some restrictions. Of course, I can't really get up and start setting the table and create some elaborate Thanksgiving Day soiree. My mom will take care of that! But, I can dream from the comfort of my bed and surrounding pillows. : ) I love simple. I love uncluttered. I love clean. All of these styles go very well with the mid-century aesthetic. CB2 is a wonderful source of clean, mid-century friendly dinnerware.

Now, I'm not gonna fib, I also looooove the cluttered, elaborate, mismatched, bohemian look as well! I go back and forth between these two styles all the time. Which can be terribly confusing for all involved. Have you thought about your table setting and how you would like to present it? Hmnnnn????

Happy Friday! 11.18.2011 - What Are You Dreamin' About?

hat are you dreaming about this weekend? It's the weekend before Thanksgiving and it's beautiful outside, the seasons are changing and it's just an awesome time of the year to dream and let your mind wander... : ) I've got baby and family on the brain, as you can tell from today's Pinterest find! (speaking of... have you started following the BV boards on Pinterest?? Weelllll..... whatcha waiting for???? Hmnnn???? Click here to start!)

I'm actually home for the next few weeks until the baby's born. Turns out she wanted to give us all a scare last week that landed me in the hospital for a couple of days. Docs are nervous she may want to make an early appearance!! Yikes! So, I've been banned to bed rest until she decides to come along. Me??? Ms. Busy Body?? Bed... rest. The term seems completely foreign to me. But, after a week of doing this... I'm starting to kinda like it. Of course... it hurts to walk, get up or do anything out of bed... so that may be why. But, I guess I'll take it. People keep telling me I won't get any rest when baby arrives, so I should probably relish in these quiet moments. I've been taking this time to get stuff organized (by computer and phone, of course) and now to catch up on some blogging and blog visiting and commenting. : ) So... is anyone planning to attend Alt 2012 in January?? I sooooo wish I was going. But, no can do. Perhaps next year in 2013. : ) I will keep you all updated on what's going on with the baby. And... just stay tuned for next week's regular posts. ello Yellow! I don't know what it is about this hue, but it makes me happy. : ) Our living room has a lot of yellow touches and so it was natural for me to gravitate to this color when looking for some throw pillows. But, I'm not yet fully convinced that it's the color I'll go with. I'm also thinking a rustic orange for pillows. But, I'll play around with that tomorrow. he hubs and I have finally decided to get a sofa! Yay! You may be thinking..."um... don't you have a sofa?" No. We don't. We have a mid-century "divan" or daybed... but no bonafide, real, sofa. So, I am over the moon excited! : ) For now, we decided to get something reasonable and family friendly. We're going with a SATER sofa from Ikea. It's very reasonably priced ($399), leather (so very maintenance and clean friendly) and so so stylish! It's going to look fabulous! I plan on putting some nifty pillows on it to brighten it up and give it some umph! I will certainly show it to you as soon as it's in our living room and ready to make its blog debut! : ) The other two sofas above are from C & B and CB2. They are my dream sofas, but just inspiration for now. : )

Bohemian Wednesday - 10.19.2011 - Boho Baby!

o, I've been planning and scheming in my little brain how our little gal's nursery is all going to come together. This is tough work, let me tell ya! Whew! As of right now, we only have a few pieces and I want it all to come out just right... but it can feel a tad overwhelming. Here are some pictures of some of the stuff I've got so far. How it will all come together? Well... only time will tell. Unfortunately, I can't put it together just yet, because we'll be moving the same month she's due! I know!! Crazy! I may have already told you that in a prior post... but, come on... I have pregnancy brain!! Or, as I like to call it... pea brain! I forget everything nowadays. : ( Anyway, it will be our own little home and that's super exciting! : ) So, in the meantime, she'll just be in her lil' bassinet until it's time to move and do her nursery. Alright... here it goes...

ne magical part about being preggers is how wild my imagination seems to be lately. I just dream and wonder about our little gal and what she will be like. (I warned you there would be some mushy baby stuff on the blog!!). As I visited The Bump today, I found this neat website where you can upload a picture of yourself and one of your partner to see what your future child will look like!! It's called MakeMeBabies.com and you can check it out here! I haven't done it yet, but it's on my list of to-do's! I hope you all have a fabulous weekend! We're getting a cold front! Yes! ust sitting around thinking and dreaming about what my little gal's nursery will look like. So, I went over to Ohdeedoh for inspiration. I couldn't help but look through the more grown up children's rooms as well. So cute! When I saw the one above, I thought " Love! Wish my room would've been like this!" So, I had to share it with you all. Check out more pictures here. You will surely love it. If not for your little gal, then for you, perhaps?? : ) There's no such thing as being too old for the fun and whimsy in your space!

"So, your nursery isn't done??" You ask? "Gasp!" I know, I know. I actually can't complete a nursery because the hubs and I will be moving homes the same month the baby is due! Ah! Stress! So, I figured she'll be sleeping in a bassinet with us anyway for a few weeks. So, I'm not rushing it. As long as there's a changing table, rocking chair and bassinet... she'll be okay. Once we're settled in, I will begin work on her nursery. I cannot wait!!! I have sooooo many ideas!! Ack!!! : ) It just makes me so happy to think about it! Rest assured that I will keep you all updated on the new digs and the new nursery as we go along. Remodel on the house begins in November. If it's not too dangerous, I'll sneak in and take pictures for you.

That can only mean one thing for me... closer and closer to my sister and bff coming into town for my baby shower on the 8th!!! Horray!!!!! was so excited to find all of today's finds on Etsy. How about that daybed, eh? Love! We actually have one of these, but it's in a yucky green vinyl. Eeek! I want to have it re-upholstered in a burnt orange, like the one above. That's been my vision since we got it and it was nice to actually see what it would look like when it's all done. So, I hope you all enjoy the finds and these seller's lovely shops.

I'm Baaaaaack!!!!! Hello Blog World! 07.07.2011

ver two months have gone by since I've blogged! Wow! It feels like forever and a day! I'm very, very happy to be back. : ) Why have I been missing in action for so long? Well... I'm expecting a baby!!! Yes! So, The first trimester was pretty much spent in bed, asleep! They say pregnant women get aversions to certain foods. Wanna know what mine was? The computer!!! Isn't that weird? I just couldn't get near it! Talk about odd! But, it looks like my second trimester is treating me more kindly and I'm a tad more energetic. Thank goodness!! We don't know the gender of the little one just yet. We should find out in about a month and a half. Needless to say, we are sooooooo excited to welcome our baby into this world. Now, I can't promise that the blog will be back up to normal schedule. I'll try, but I can't promise. It will probably take on a new twist as well. I like to write about things I'm interested in. Well... a baby is on the way! That's what I'm interested in! So, although I'll try to keep the decor ideas baby free for those of you who don't share my enthusiasm, I'm warning you that you will probably see lots of nursery photos in the months to come. : ) Thank you for hanging in there with me and I hope you continue to read on once more. So, how was your weekend? Wonderful, I hope! We had a three day weekend. So we did a lot of church going, meditating, thinking, celebrating and eating! : ) The eating was yum! Courtesy of my mom! Thanks Ma! : ) Oh! And... thrifting at the local Salvation Army. I scored a saaaaweeeet little vintage dress for $4.99 and this cool owl cookie jar for $6 bucks! Can't beat it! See?
